  • Canada 150 Contest and Parade

Registration is closed

In celebration of Canada's 150th, we are having a contest.  Using either photos or a written article/poem/essay, share something about what Canada means to you.

Prizes to be determined based on the number of applicants.  Entry will also be eligible towards participation credits required for scholarships and book grants.

Deadline is June 26 as we would like some time to publish/post on our website before Canada Day.

As well, on the actual Canada Day, come celebrate with us as the Wongs' Association and the Chinese Community gather together for a parade in Downtown Toronto on Saturday July 1 .  This parade is organized by the Chinese Canadian National Council (CCNC) and has been an annual event to highlight our national pride and unity.   Walk with us under the Wongs' Banner and join us for a nice afternoon walk.  Here are more details:

Date and Time: Saturday July 1, 2017, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Where: Downtown Toronto
Parade route: Parade starts at the CHINESE RAILROAD WORKERS Monument, between Rogers Centre and Spadina Ave., south of Front St., beside the railyards

Cost: Free

At the end of the parade, we will gather together for a free lunch at a local Chinese restaurant.  Dim sum and other Chinese dishes will be available as a way of thanking you for celebrating Canada Day with us.

This event also qualifies for a participation credit towards the Wongs Scholarship or Wongs Book Grant Award.

Please tell us by Sunday June 26 by sending an email to wongsyouth@gmail.com if you are planning to join us for the parade and lunch in order for us to reserve enough space at the restaurant.   We also need to know what your shirt size is and we will do our best to give you a correct fitting t-shirt.
